The Strangest Thing

Well, so far the medication is making me LOSE weight..lol Probably not what the reader's of this blog were hoping for. I'm almost disappointed myself. I constantly waver between wanting to gain and wanting to lose, as if I were two different people depending on the time of day.

But, I must say, I'm getting horrible restlessness with this med.. soooo.. I may be switching to a different one. This med typically has the opposite reaction on most people so I dunno what's up with that. Weird body i have i guess.

Have a great day everyone!

Also, weight update.. 158! I guess I lost 2 lbs and it has to be the meds cuz I'm not trying. I like the fact that I'm losing though, if not for anything more than a sense of control over my weight.. sooo much easier to gain than to lose if that's what i want to do!

New Medication With a Side Effect

It's been awhile since I updated so I thought I'd check in. I'm holding steady at about 160 lbs. I keep having these spells of trying to lose weight, barely losing anything, and then gaining it back by accident. So there hasn't been anything new to report really. My olive oil experiment was fun, and made my skin softer, but didn't really make any change on my distribution as you probably expected, but I don't know, just doing that stuff "to see" kinda excites me I guess..ha So I do stuff like that anyway.

I do have something interesting to share though. I'm starting a new medication for my anxiety. It's called abilify. I know it's often used as an adjunct with an anti-depressant but that's actually not what i'm taking it for. I'm taking it for the more historical purposes of it being a mood-stabilizer and a an anti-psychotic. It should help with my crazy "episodes" and I'm excited. Today was my 4th day on it and my first day at 5mg actually. Which is a low dose.

My psychiatrist did mention though, that one major side effect of Abilify is actually WEIGHT GAIN. It's the only side effect she even bothered to mention actually and she asked me, "Do you have a problem with that?" haha I think my only problem was that I got kinda turned on when she said that! I know I'm weird.

Anyway, I don't know how to feel about that. I don't feel ready to gain more weight. 170 was a little too much for me. 173 actually, was my top weight. I think I hit it back in January. At that weight my belly was a little too out of proportion for me and my face was getting chubby and it was a little scary for me since I've been skinny my whole life and well, I'm not "skinny" anymore... just "normal" I guess.. whatever that means. 170 though, I start to get chubby and that's only 10 lbs away! I'm a little nervous that I might start gaining weight against my will.

I guess one good thing though is that it would probably revive this journal. I guess we'll see.. heh

Olive Oil Experiment II

So this is all set up and I've started. I'm going to take measurements once a week. I have no idea if anything will happen..lol But I love hoping that it will. =) And it just might! I mean, you can absorb anything through your skin. That's why they have things like nicotine patches and hormone patches and stuff. So I'm sure I'm absorbing the olive oil, and I'm sure my skin will get softer (already has), but will the fat stay in that area, or go elsewhere? I dunno, should be interesting to find out. =)

I'd love a bigger lower half so its worth a try. heh

Looking Back at my gain in my face

Yah, so these pics aren't flattering really, but I wanted to see the change in my face as I gained. I started off at 137 lbs in late July and ballooned up to 173 by the end of January. I DEFINITELY like my face better now. When I was skinny it was like too bony or something. I dunno.

Anyway, here's what I got. =)

July 29th, 137 lbs, taken at work

June 21st, 140 lbs, taken at PRIDE

July 30th, 137 lbs, taken at home

March 11th, 172 lbs, taken at my friends going away party

Jan 28th, 172 lbs, taken at the mall before my surgery

Jan 7th, 172 lbs, taken at home goofing around..heh

Andddd here is me now... after a 10 lb weight loss since February 1st.

Apr 15th, 162 lbs, taken after a shower

Hope you liked?

Weight Loss now 14 lbs and Comparisons

Hey, so yah, I'm losing weight and doing pretty good at it. I started February 1st and yesterday I weighed in at 159 lbs. That's 14 lbs down from my highest of 173. Good job Stacy! (even though most of you are cringing..haha)

BUT I'm stil 22 lbs heavier than my starting weight of 137 back in fall last year when I was my skinniest. And I have my measurements from when I was 20 lbs up, so I thought I would compare. I've heard our bodies are pretty resilient in resuming their exact previous form. I'm not too off from that except, well, I had breast augmentation so you can see that in the numbers for sure, and my hormone levels are are slightly different now, so that can have an impact as well as far as where weight goes. Anyway, here's my spreadsheet of it.

Some observations:
1.) My neck went back to exactly what it was at this weight last time.
2.) My arm is down 1/4" which surprises me actually, cuz it still seems pretty flubby
3.) My bust is up 2" and 2 or 3 cup sizes from last time at this weight sooo yah, surgery.
4.) My waist is actually down 1/4"
5.) My belly is actually up an inch from last time! ***I think this may be because I measured myself after a decent meal at Chipolte AND a latte..lol
6.) My hips are up 3/4". Yah, I'm pretty sure I can tell. Chrissie even poked me here last night. I remember still when there was nothing there.
7.) My booty still has an extra 1/4" compared to last time.
8.) My thighs still have an extra 1/2" each, which is a lot for the smaller area

Ratios:
1.) So the difference between my bust and my waist before suregery was 3.25" and NOW is it 5.5". So that's increased by over 2". Good! God what I paid for? lol
2.) My belly was 2" bigger than my waist last time, now it is 3.25" bigger than my waist. Yikes! That actually includes love handles which is where I think most of it is. Kinda like that actually. =)
3.) My booty used to be 2.25" bigger around than my hips, but now its only 1.75" and its definately because my hips are bigger.

So I feel like my body is changing in all the right ways. =) I like where the ratios are going, well, as long as the belly number is from the love handles more than the front.. cuz I feel like my belly is too big still!

Oh the biggest change was obviously going from a 37AA at this weight last time to a 39C. Very happy I did that though. I just like my body better. Feels good. Less paranoid. Don't know how to describe that.

I have a plan still. I'd like to go ahead and lose more weight. Maybe another 10 lbs bringing me to a loss of 25 lbs total. I'm not sure what I'll do from there. I am starting another little experiment with olive oil though now, which I'm calling Stacy's Olive Oil Experiment II. I set up the spreadsheet and made rules for myself..heh I'll share that with you soon.

Don't know if anyone even reads this journal anymore so maybe i'll let people on ff know? lol

Sauteed Garlic Asparagus

I had a request to share recipes so I guess this is my first one. I am pretty obsessed with food and cooking lately so this is probably a good match for this blog, esp since I need to pay attention to it more. Anyway, that being said, this won't help you gain weight, but this is nice and healthy and vegan! if you are into that sort of thing.. like me. =)

Original recipe is here:
http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Sauteed-Garlic-Asparagus/Detail.aspx

I joined allrecipes.com and I really like it even though I wish it was more vegetarian/vegan based, but there's still good stuff on there and of course ways to alter the recipes to work for me. For example, this recipe calls for butter, but olive oil can easily be substituted to make it vegan (and healthier) and that was actually suggested by many non-vegans on the site anyway so yay. =)

There were tons of comments on how to make this recipe better and lots of good ideas on how to personalize it so I kinda took the ideas I liked best and made my own vegan versian. I tried it last night and yum! It was really good! I've never made asparagus until yesterday so I feel good about that. I think I can really say that I can cook, finally. I feel confident these days and feel like I know what I'm doing, and I cook often now cuz it's really enjoyable and satisfying. =)

So here is my vegan versian of ~*~SAUTEED GARLIC ASPARAGUS~*~

THE RECIPE

INGREDIENTS

* 2 tbsp olive oil
* 1 bunch fresh asparagus (bend to find where they break naturally, use only the ends with the spears)
* 3 cloves garlic, chopped
* 1 shallot, chopped
* 1/2 cup baby portabella mushrooms
* 1/2 tsp sea salt
* 1/2 tsp black pepper
* 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
* 2 tsp balsamic vinegar

DIRECTIONS

1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

2. Add the garlic, shallot, mushrooms and asparagus spears; cover and cook for 7 minutes, stirring occasionally, or until asparagus is tender and bright green. (if it starts to brown you risk overcooking)

3. Add the salt, pepper, red pepper flakes and balsamic vinegar and serve!
